West: a series for The Jealous Curator

I was honoured to be asked to contribute to The Jealous Curator's inaugural Fancy Schmancy Gallery online exhibition.

The theme chosen by The Jealous Curator (AKA Canadian blogger/author/artist Danielle Krysa) was 'West'.  West made me think of cowboys, which in turn made me think of masculinity, one of my favourite topics.  I made a series of small paintings in which men were so reduced to symbols of masculinity that they ceased to exist, and the symbols took on a life of their own.

Scroll down to see all three paintings in the series.
